The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1920 and is currently celebrating its 75th Anniversary Season.

The orchestra promotes an annual series of subscription concerts at its home, Symphony Hall which is part of the International Convention Centre in the heart of Birmingham. In addition, the orchestra performs a successful summer series and popular daytime Matinée series (Box Office 0121 212 3333).

The CBSO tours regularly and has visited nearly all major concert halls in Europe. 1994 saw the third major tour to Japan and the orchestra has also visited the USA. In March 1996, the orchestra visited Vienna with programmes from Towards the Millennium Festival and will complete a 10 day tour of principal European cities in September.

We have a comprehensive discography including many award winning recordings. We also have an active Chorus and Junior Chorus plus many other affiliated groups and ensembles. Stay in touch: join our free postal mailing list on our web site!
